We proud to release the CorePlayer Platform v1.3.5. This release concentrates on enhancing YouTube playback, speed, as well as back porting many of our upcoming 2.0 network enhancements to the 1.x code base. YouTube now lists content faster, loads videos faster, and handles connections in a more intelligent manner for browsing and playing in-between (and going in and out of) different network environments (think WiFi to GPRS).

Two other biggies with this release are:
- We now support over 30 languages (Thank you Portal users!!) and we are on track for our goal of 40 by Xmas.
- We have now added AC3 Playback support on OS X if Perian is installed. Windows users will have to wait for 2.0 when we release support for directshow.

Platforms being released:

Mobile
- Palm
- MIPS: CE
- ARM: CE/Pocket PC /Windows Mobile
- ARM: Smartphone
- Symbian s60 v2
- Symbian s60 v3
- Symbian UIQ v2
- Symbian UIQ v3

Desktop
- x86: Windows
- x86/PPC: OS X

Read the full changelog below for more info.
Code:
CorePlayer Platform Version 1.3.5 build 7340 (20090824):
- FIX: YouTube item handling and seeking
- FIX: AVC streams with SEI userdata in extradata
- FIX: DivX 3.11 in MP4 fixes
- FIX: Wavpack handling other than 16 bits
- ADD: Transparent reconnection in HTTP after a connection failure
- ADD: A connection timeout to avoid waiting forever for network streams
- ADD: FLAC support in Matroska and Ogg
- ADD: AC-3 decoding on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) when Perian is installed
- ADD: Brasilian Portugese, Danish, Dutch, Greek, Ukrainian language support
- ADD: More JPEG formats supports
- CHG: Network stream opening is less blocking

We have posted a 'silent' update for OS X (new build number) that fixes an album art bug... that was affecting playback performance when playing content with album art or when you tried to resize the window with album art shown.

Sorry to complain, but this version is buggy @hell!

First, I can't type any URL in "Open URL", when I try to do that, I type http then I go to "other symbols to choose ":" and "/" "/", it marks "http" and when I choose ":" it overwrite the http. In short: It overwrites anything I typed when choosing other symbols.

Second... MP3 http streaming over WiFi works just fine as before. Using 3G Network it don't recognize the station name anymore, therefore it write wrong urls/names to my favorites, so I can't use it a second time. (One URL is just a redirect script, everytime an other url, so it just don't work a second time if overwriting the originally URL).

But not enough.. MP3 streaming over 3G Networks is just a digitally artifacts/interrupts, it just don't sound "clear" anymore.
This only apear over 3G, WiFi (WLAN) is just fine as in 1.3.2.

For me, I am back to 1.3.2!
Please fix that for the next version.

System Info: Symbian 3rd, Nokia N96.

We are looking at the Symbian network stack now to see what is going on for some users. Most however are not seeing the same thing and it works fine... Stay tuned.

Never noticed this problem before on my HTC Touch HD with previous releases but each time I tap the CorePlayer icon with v1.3.5, a new instance of CorePlayer starts. I can't see why this would be a feature and have checked the settings to see if anything needs to be disabled. Don't know if anyone else is experiencing the same problem on a WM6.1 device?

Please move/delete if inappropriate thread for posting.

No delete necessary and thanx for the report. Yeah... we just caught this one as well. We are adding an option to open a new instance... but this bug 'slipped' in there. It will be fixed for 1.3.6 that we will release towards the end of the week.

Maybe you could try this URL for the "MP3 Streaming with 3G Networks" Bug on N96.

http://62.26.214.248:80/sunshinelive/livestream.mp3

Otherwise I will look if this problem occur on the next version. ;)

We have identified the streaming issue. It is related to Shoutcast metadata. You should disable them until we release the next version in the coming days : Network > ShouCast Live Metadata

It should affect all platforms. Strangely you can't hear the issue on windows, but the problem is there.

Yes, of course.

when I search for some videos, CP can find the videos (no more than 4 videos are displayed :( ).

But if I click on any of them, then nothing happens. Really nothing.

The only thing I can see is the CorePlayer logo on the screen....

What platform ? What connection ?

You can change the number of results displayed in the Settings.

Finally YT sometimes gives results that cannot be played by CorePlayer, because they are set as "non embeddable" by the author. Unfortunately YT doesn't provide an API to filter out those items...

Thank you very much for your answer.

I am using an HTC Touch HD, Windows professional 6.1, official HTC ROM, 3G connection.

Actually, I can play these youtube videos with the youtube application provided by HTC. I cannot explain why...

Can you give me an example of a URL that doesn't play and/or how you reach that file ?

We have had reports of this happening a long time ago if you just installed over top of the old version and that it somehow messed with the config.xml, though I'm not so sure here. But you can test by uninstalling CorePlayer, rebooting the device and then reinstalling it.

What YouTube quality setting are you using? Try a different one to see if it helps.

Won't install on my Omnia i910:

"Installation of Coreplayer.Smartphone.r7340.cab was unsuccessful"

Tried completely uninstalling 1.3.2, deleting the CorePlayer directory in Program Files, same result.

Help!

EDIT: Did you guys add a check in the installer to detect Smartphone vs. PDA? The Omnia is not a smartphone.

I purchased way back at v1.1.1, purchased the smartphone product (didn't know any better back then), and it has installed and worked without problems on my Treo, and then my Omnia when I upgraded my device, through 1.3.2. Now it won't install. Is it because I don't have the PDA version? If so, how can I get it (and not buy the app again, obviously)?

You have a PocketPC (touchscreen) not a smartphone. ie; you are installing the wrong version of CorePlayer.

See above. I bought the wrong version initially at 1.1.1, and never had any problems until now. Smartphone 1.3.2 installs and works fine on my Omnia.

I know that I made a mistake when I did my initial purchase, but didn't know it then -- I thought all PDA-type phones were "smartphones", and the software installed and worked, version after version, until now, so I had no reason to think anything was wrong.

Of course, I've since learned that PDA phones and smartphones are different beasts. How can I resolve this?

Doesn't seem right that I'd have to buy the product again...

I don't know if you are aware of the fact that Handango now has a new upgrade area of their site for developers. If you go to your product and click on "Product File Administration", you will see the following:
Quote:
NEW! File Upload Administration

Authors are now allowed to sell upgrades to their products without having to create a new product id. This new tool has a section labeled "Free Upgrades" and this is where files with bug fixes and/or minor enhancements should be uploaded. The "Paid Upgrades" section should be used when new features have been added and you want to charge previous customers for the upgrade. You can set an upgrade price for these customers in the "Modify Product Details" section.

We are also developers at Handango and MobiHand and we sell FAR more software through Handango then through MobiHand. Please consider fixing or implementing a work-around for your many Handango users...including me, who purchased your outdated product through Handango.

Thanks!

NewKreation.... good to know as we had been advocates for them to do something like this for almost 2 years now. We will likely upgrade Handango to 1.3.6 when we push it out (we are still in QA atm).

What is QA?

Is that bug fixed with overriding letters when choosing special characters like / or : in the function "open url"? (Symbian)

Hello,

I've found a bug with AVCHD playback in v1.3.5 on OSX, concerning both video and audio playback. I'm not sure if it's common to all platforms. The bug is reported in detail in the OSX section of the forum, but I thought to mention it here as well, as this seems to be the appropriate place for bug reports in v1.3.5.

QA = Quality Assurance

We are doing tests to all the changes we have done for 1.3.6

just wanted to confirm that the avchd bug seems to be multiplatform.

under windows there are video problems, which weren't in previous releases (audio is not supposed to work as no ac3 support under windows yet) and under mac there are video problems and no audi (mac should have had audio in 1.3.5 i think).

Okay, got my version issues worked out, and installed 1.3.5.

Bad news is, doesn't work at all. Tried the YouTube feature... Browsing works fine. However, when a video is selected to view, it hangs the phone. Nothing ever plays, the display is frozen and unresponsive, buttons don't function (I have one assigned to return to Today, and it has no effect). This never seems to time out either. Have to soft-reset to get the phone back.

Same problem when streaming from Orb. All of this worked fine with 1.3.2.

I'm on a Verizon Omnia i910, running WM6.1.

I'm going to do a full backup, hard-reset to factory virgin software, install only CorePlayer, and see if it works. That at least would point to some s/w conflict with all the other stuff I have installed. I'll report back later today.
