After 4 months of work. We are proud to present CoreAVC v1.9.0 which now features NVIDIA CUDA support.

A few things to mention with this release:
- CUDA support is only included with the Professional Edition
- CoreAVC Professional Edition v1.9 supports NVIDIA CUDA hardware acceleration (Standard Edition does not). You need to have the NVIDIA drivers 182.05 or newer.
- Hardware interlaced content falls back to software decoding for now.
- We are aware of an artifacts/blockiness bug and are working on a fix.
- We are aware of the blockiness bug when seeking (this has been fixed internally).
- The installer says 181.64 is required. That's wrong and you need 182.05 or higher installed.
- People that asked the support to change their emails, will not get the email, they need to visit http://www.coreavc.com/retrieve and enter the new email

- Fix: Focus bug related to MCE
- Fix: Focus prevention when the tray icon is off
- Fix: Improve seeking on frames with one IDR frame
- Fix: Various small bugs

Haali Media Splitter (20090111)
- Add: The shortcut for gdsmux is created in the start menu
- Fix: Broken Matroska files with looped SeekHeads could cause a hang
in Matroska Parser, the number of SeekHeads is now limited to 10
- Fix: Removed the workaround to find tags written by Matroska Shell
Extension, this caused excessive file scanning when opening files
created by recent MKVToolnix
- Fix: File linking is now enabled by default

So what NVIDIA CUDA cards are support? Officially they are:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260/280/290/295, 9800, 9600, 9500, 8800 GT, 8700, 8600, 8500, 8400, Tesla S1070/C1060, Quadro FX 3700, Quadro FX 3600M, Quadro FX 1700/FX 570/ NVS 320M/FX 1600M/FX 570M/FX 370/NVS 290/NVS 140M/NVS 135M/FX 360M/NVS 130M and higher.

Nice job with cuda acceleration but those nvidia drivers are not out yet.

Unfortunately, using the lastest Nvidia drivers 181.22 on their site and it isn't detected by coreavc.

Can anybody tell me if this release will fix the subtitles problems?
1.8 is working fine but 1.8.5 screws everything up at my end.

hope 1.9 will get the 1.8 behavior back?

I've bought CoreAVC codec after this post. But I still get only v1.8.5.0.
Where can I download the newest version?

Wow, it's a pity that the version of CUDA included with older drivers is not supported. There is an issue with drivers in the 181.xx series that completely prevents them from displaying custom resolutions (i.e. if your monitor required Reduced Blanking to display at 1920x1200, you're SOL).

Search using beta instead of all/recommended and get the 182.05 drivers. They work with coreavc with cuda acceleration enabled.

AWESOME! Very impressed with the CUDA implementation on my GTX260.. CPU is just idling along with a 1080p x264 video playing.

Any idea when we will see ATI hardware acceleration with stream? Right now it is working great with Nvidia GPUs but I have a couple of ATI ones that could use some acceleration.

All updates come from e-junkies... we are however bringing it 'in-house' to our 'CroeAccount' from 2.0 forward.

It seems that when I play a 12.7Mbit 1080p video, the video plays fine when windows media player is set at a small (around 720p size) window. However when I enlarge/maximize/use full screen, the video suddenly gets extremely framy to the point of nearly stopping. Also, distortions and blockiness is introduced. In addition, my gpu temperature rises to around 92 deg. C (idle= ~69 dec C). I am using a 8600m gt with with modded 182.05 drivers, CUDA enabled. Does this problem occur because my gpu is underpowered? or maybe drivers?

This problem doesn't occur when the CUDA check box is unchecked. Also playback is fine at lower bitrates.

I am trying CoreAVC 1.9 with my Geforce 8200 (IGP) supporting CUDA (driver 182.05 beta) but the CPU load is about the same as usual

Is the hardware too light and CoreAVC is not activating CUDA acceleration, or too slow to unload the CPU?

Edit :
- On 1080i HDTV with DVBViewer CUDA doesn't seem to work (as said above)
- On 720p MKV CUDA is working but the framerate is too slow
- On 1080p MKV CUDA is working with low CPU (<15%) but the framerate is very slow...

Ok I gess CUDA is not designed for IGP

This sounds great!! Any chance that this will also find its way into licensed decoders like the EyeTV decoder on Mac? After all all new macbooks have an nvidia chipset and the hardware acceleration would be really useful for 1080i tv channel decoding...my fan always explodes when i watch such channels.

As stated above, 1080p x264 MKV playback is slow and does slow down the system. However, 720p x264 MKV playback is smooth and does not slow down my system. The system "slowness" is most likely caused by "C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe C:\Windows\system32\NVSVC64.DLL,nvsvcInitialize", as that process spikes pretty high in CPU usage during any x264 MKV playback.

My system specs are:

Intel Q6600 2.4Ghz
4GB RAM
NVidia 8600GT 256MB
Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP1
NVidia GeForce 182.05 BETA (I did not try the official release as BlackSun stated 182 or greater was required for CUDA support.)

Oh, and I too would like to know if ATI HA is going to be added anytime soon, as my HTPC is ATI-based.

The NVIDIA Drivers 182.05 or higher is _REQUIRED_. Now as far as your issue... what are you using for playback? If its WMP... try the 32bit Media Player Classic... browse for the CoreAVC Dll in teh MPC external codec options... and see if it works.

I did forget to mention the player. It is Windows Media Player 32-bit. I know that the 64-bit player will not work, as you have not released a 64-bit DirectShow Codec yet.

CUDA support doesn't seem to work. Is there a problem with 8800 GTS cards? I have installed the 182.05 nvidia drivers and can select CUDA in he CoreAVC options, but the CoreAVC icon never turns green, no matter what video I play.

Well, a reboot appears to have fixed my issue. I can play x264 1080p MKV within WMP11 32-bit and MPC 32-bit just fine. No system lag or video playback issues. I tested with "Star Wars The Clone Wars Movie 1080p" and "Top Gear - Polar Special 720p."

BTW the installer does not enable CUDA Support or the Tray Icon. You have to go into Configure CoreAVC and enable these two manually. At least, that is what I had to do after I updated from 1.8.5 to 1.9.0.

The 7500/7600/8600/8800/9000/2x0-series GPU's should all support CUDA. Check NVidia's site for official support statements.
