hi Betaboy and the rest of the dev team. Can you please let us know if the new 3.0 iPhone OS due out in June/July will allow for CorePlayer to make it through the door. Cheers guys.

Based on our review so far... it really changes nothing for us. So it looks like when 3.0 officially launches we will be going the Cydia AppStore route for distribution.

Hi betaboy

I, like many others have been anticipating the release of coreplayer for iPhone, and we are wondering if coreplayer is ready to be released, and you guys have decided to sell it via cydia store, then why bother with os3.0? I'm sure of would add more iPhone functionality but your first release doesn't really need to be perfect, updates can be deployed really easily.

I know when I say here that iphone users are hanging for a divx player app, I know I'm not the only one. And what's more I would gladly pay for an adhoc version if you guys at coreplayer offered them, even though I'd doubt I'd get updates, but i'd be satisfied with just the promised functionality.

Cheers
Jin

^ Agree with the above.

However I'm guessing they are concerned about further dev. costs after 3.0 comes out so they'd prefer to minimise the work they have to do.

I guess they believe there is no potential threat to their product so they are happy to sit on it and wait.

I can think of 3 good reasons why this product may never make a dime on the iPhone. Personally I'd be trying to flog as many copies as possible whilst the opportunity still exists.

I do hope you folks do well - I'm sure a lot of effort went into the product.

corvy.... yes... and it will all become very apparent on what we have done going into 2.0 soon enough. We want the iPhone to be a platform to say hey... we did that! We are getting closer here everyday to the point we can call it a ready... but the timing has to be right as well and as long as we are 'stacking development blocks' and not going backwards... its just gonna get better.

Really glad to hear that. I've been a staunch supporter of the Coreplayer since the days of its 'free' opensource younger sibling, TCPMP and earlier.

What Corecodec has done with Picards 'baby' has, for many of us, revolutionized mobile media on smartphones in a way that is second to none to date.

I just hope that you guys (Betaboy and the corecodec team) will somehow bring this app to the iphone before the likes of Apple and other developers 'catch up' to the progress and benchmark standards you have set.

Whilst I don't believe that there exists any other app of this kind to rival the mobile Coreplayer at the moment, I'm sure I am not speaking out of turn when I say that the speed at which technology is progressing and new technology is emerging, is literally changing the way we interact with the available media. With streaming media from music to HD movies etc and the advent of ever greater and faster bandwidth technologies, it won't be long before your revolutionary Coreplayer may become redudant in at least the iPhone arena, despite it being an all-in-one solution.

The Apple store alone has carved the way for many new developers to emerge and existing ones to implement what wasn't possible only a short time ago. I just want to see you guys to continue to be at the top of your game and not become just another good software developer, instead of the pioneers and innovators that Corecodec undoubtedly is.

Best of luck to you guys and gals at Corecodec and remember, your guaranteed route to success on the iPhone platform (the only mobile area left for you to dominate and probably the most lucrative) is probably not through the app store as you are without a doubt far too much of a threat to the domination game that Apple wants to stay on top of.

Thx for all the kind words... it's hard being in the middle and wanting to release a product we feel a platform needs but the vendor does/may not want (because of Apples current history of 'like' rejections, ie; a stand alone media player).

Honestly we are not trying to duplicate anything they are doing... and like the slingbox player just want to have our niche market on the iPhone. However going the Cydia route opens the doors wide for us to take advantage of the non-developer available APi's and in the case of video, maybe be even more to our advantage as we are hearing rumblings of OpenCL support in 3.x.

Time will tell.

Well, fingers crossed. Your reputation preceeds you, so I'm confident that when you release Coreplayer on the iPhone, the community will respond positively. Best of luck.

I've been told that the iPhone just doesnt have the kicker?

I'm pretty sure the problem isn't duplicating what they are doing (though this may be an excuse for them) but rather their pushing of quicktimes as the premier media player.

They want everything else to fail and what .mov to succeed.

It pains me because .mov will not succeed and it sucks having quicktimes on my computer. I refuse to waste time converting as well.

If this product makes it out..I will be sure to jailbreak.

Hey guys,

Just hoping to get some clarification around xvid/divx on the iPhone.

Is Core Player capable of playing these files at full frame rate? Up to what resolution/bit-rate?
