The CoreCodec team is proud to present v1.3.0 of the CorePlayer Platform (build 6213). As you can see by the build number we have committed at least 50% more into v1.3.0 then in v1.2.5. This is directly attributed to the great feedback and bug reports that the CoreCodec community has provided.

Two major points I would like to put out there for the bloggers:

1 - The performance of YouTube HD in CorePlayer Pro v1.3.0 when compared side-by-side to either the Adobe Media Player or Flash embedded into any web browser, is a least 2x faster (if not more) when playing YouTube HD in 720p. We attribute this to CorePlayer's low level of coding and our H.264 decoder CoreAVC.

2 - The speed of CorePlayer Pro in OS X is faster in 'software alone' in playing back H.264 content then when Quicktime utilizes the NVIDIA hardware in the new unibody MacBook Pros. Go ahead... test it ;-)

Cut through the changelog.... Whats the new in 1.3.0?
- YouTube HD support
- Double the YouTube supported streaming formats
- Improved QTv support with some chipsets (Blue/Green screen bug)
- Enhanced proxy support
- Low latency streaming option
- Supports 22 Languages
- Faster CoreUI interface (especially on Palm/Symbian)
- Initial 'Channel's' separation (only YouTube to the public atm)
- Enhanced DivX/XviD support
- Improved 'preferences' dialogue for Windows/OS X

What Platforms are being released today for v1.3.0?

Linux is just for white label OEM licensing atm... we will likely offer it for consumers next year on the various distros. We will however have announcements at both CES and 3GSM that effect our massive Linux efforts.

I was going to ask this in private so your answer wouldn't become any form of contract or promise to the clients/forum at large, but I checked the rules and following rule 9 I chose to post it openly instead..

Without this turning into an assurance of any kind on your part, from your experience, how long does the Symbian signature process take?

I'm Impatient :D

BetaBoy -- in another 1.3x topic you posted that bookmarks-on-steroids were coming in this version, but I don't see it listed in the changelog -- are they there?

Also -- anyone else run into a 'you've already downloaded this software' error at Mobihand when you try to get the update? I did... I emailed support, but the wait until tomorrow is killing me ;)

@chaznet: I did not run into any problems downloading version 1.3 from Mobihand.com

@BetaBoy: Thanks for the update with the Youtube fix. I also appreciate very much the significantly improved RSS feed support. Many feeds that wouldn't work with 1.2.5 are now working just fine. ;D

Cheers.

We are more compliant with RSS/Atom feeds that are not spec compliant. Funny how that goes... we create compliance that is exact... and then have to mess with it to support all the 'bad' feeds. Glad it works ;-)

@ chaznet..... no I stated a few months ago our goals have changed substantially. Bookmarks are planned for the next set of milestone releases... the question is if its going to be in that first release or not.

Hard question to answer and not something I can say until after CES for sure.

@ Lars_G.... less then a day for Symbian signing. Normally we would wait for the Symbian signing before we release a milestone.... but with it being so close to CES and we have a ton of devel to do yet, every hour/day counts.

Let me first state the 720p is for desktop PC's.... I'm not aware of any mobile device capable of playing 720p yet... but the support is there. As far as limitaions... there a ZERO limitations in CP. That is unless your looking to play QuadHD... and in that case we'll be ready for that by the end of the year.

All (4) Symbian versions released. I will edit the above post to reflect this and now send this post via an 'announcement' thread.

I've still got the blue flicker with the TV output when using the Qtv driver. :( Was it supposed to be fixed with this version? I couldn't tell for certain from the change log.

I've got a Fuze with ROMeOS 1.40 ROM if it makes a difference.

The green/Blue flicker was only fixed on 'some' of the QTv chips, not all.

BrownCG,
Same issue here. Perhaps the "what's new" description should be updated to reflect the actual status. For example it should read: " Improved QTv support with some of the QTV Chipsets (Blue/Green screen bug)

I'm not real clear on the streaming enhancements. For example, I subscribe to the DI.fm service, and regularly listen to their 64k streams over my T-Mobile EDGE connection. Often, the stream will drop -- and in the past, CorePlayer would attempt to resume the stream for what was to short a time before giving up, then I would need to manually restart the stream. Eventually, I just gave up on streaming with CorePlayer. Will the changes to streaming in 1.3 make this experience better? How so?

And... is this the advanced streaming module that was mentioned when CorePlayer was first released?

chaznet... we continue to improve streaming with each release. I am not sure whats going on with your situation, but feel free to provide me the finer details of how to duplicate the issue.

As far as future releases.... we will feature Progressive Downloading in one of the next milestone releases that will be help in the buffering arena and your issue (potentially).

Will that be in 1.x? Thats to be determined.

Thanks -- you don't need to reproduce it really. In my scenario, there are spots where the phone part of my device works, I'm still connected via EDGE, full bars, but when I'm streaming, it drops the connection. Some players, especially Conduits PocketPlayer, will continually re-attempt to get the stream back until they do. For example, the new version of PocketPlayer continues to retry until you 'tell' it to stop by pressing the stop-key. Other players, like CorePlayer, try for a bit and then give up. CorePlayer doesn't try long, and if I use it for streaming, I'm constantly removing it from my pocket to press play again to re-start the stream.

Not something you'd run into much with a 3G or WiFi connection, but often encountered with EDGE :(

There is a problem between HTC and Qualcomm because Both the Touch and Touch pro and HD all have ATI graphics chips.

How is this info relavent to this topic? You're referencing a post from February, in which CorePlayer isn't mentioned at all. The info that is there is of course old news, and has nothing to do with the release of version 1.3.0 of CorePlayer. Trolling around...?

You said that in 1.3.0 version you would fix the aac+ problem! You didn't! I still have tcpmp installed for aac+ files. :(
